Job Title: Programme Manager – Before, After & Holiday Care

Location: Ngaio School, Wellington

Hours: 27.5 hours per week (Term Time) + Holiday Programme hours as required

Salary: $30 – 35 per hour

At Ngaio School, we empower our tamariki to “Soar to New Heights” through our core ROCKET values. Starting in Term 1, 2027, we are bringing our Before, After, and Holiday Care programme in-house. We are looking for a professional, warm, dynamic, and organised Programme Manager to build and lead a high-quality, fun, and safe service for our school community.

The Role

As Programme Manager, you will take operational and leadership ownership of our before and after school care, creating a welcoming space for primary-aged children.

Key Responsibilities Include:

  • Programme Leadership: Designing engaging daily play, outdoor sports, art, and quiet downtime activities that utilise our school fields, library, and ‘the Arb’.

  • Staff Leadership: Rostering, mentoring, and supervising our team of Programme Assistants.

  • Whānau Connection: Building positive relationships with parents at pickup and through regular updates.

  • Administration & Billing: Managing enrollments, roll-taking, and parent billing via our Enrolmy platform (10 dedicated administrative hours per week).

  • Compliance & Safety: Maintaining MSD Social Sector Accreditation standards, RAMS, first aid response, and safety ratios.

Hours & Schedule

  • Total: 27.5 hours per week (Term Time)

  • On-Site Supervision: 7.30 AM – 8.30 AM, and 2:30 PM – 6:00 PM, Monday to Friday (17.5 hours)

  • Flexible Admin Time: 10 hours per week (managed flexibly)

  • Additional paid hours will be required during school holidays to run our Holiday Care programme.

About You

We are looking for someone who brings a genuine joy for working with tamariki, paired with strong organisational skills.

To be successful, you will have:

  • Proven experience leading or supervising children (5–11 years) in a school, OSCAR, camp, or sports setting.

  • Confidence using digital admin tools, taking rolls, and managing basic customer accounts/invoicing.

  • A current Comprehensive First Aid Certificate (or willingness to obtain one before starting).

  • Strong communication skills and the ability to set warm, firm, and supportive boundaries with children.

  • Alignment with Ngaio School’s ROCKET values and a commitment to child safety (Police vetting required).
