The Ngaio Graduate Profile: Our Vision for Your Child
When your child starts their journey at Ngaio School, we aren’t just thinking about the year ahead—we are looking at who they will become by the time they graduate at the end of Year 6.
The Ngaio Graduate Profile is our school’s “North Star.” It is a framework that guides our teachers, our lesson planning, and our school environment to ensure your child leaves us with the life skills, mindsets, and confidence they need for their next steps.
Rather than a checklist, our profile is made up of 5 distinct segments, all resting on our foundation and idea that it of belonging & identity (Tūrangawaewae). We firmly believe that a sense of belonging is the starting point for everything else. Children learn best when they feel safe, secure, and valued for who they are. At Ngaio School, we celebrate our students’ unique cultures, backgrounds, and histories. Our physical spaces, including precious areas like the Arb, are places where friendships, learning and personal connections are built.

Resilient Our ākonga view mistakes simply as a way to learn. They are willing to take measured risks, try new things, and manage challenges with a positive, “bounce-back” attitude and a growth mindset.
Take Responsibility Our ākonga understand how their choices affect the people around them. They set high personal standards, manage their own learning, and can navigate social situations with patience; knowing when to lead, when to follow, and when to act independently.
The bottom half of our graduate sphere focuses on intellectual exploration; how our students dig beneath the surface, question the world around them, and design creative solutions.
