Ngaio School has a number of hockey teams which are open to any children in years 3 through 6.

Season details

  • Begins in May and ends in September.

Ages of children

  • Years 3 through 6.

Day/times of games

  • Saturday mornings – various times from 8.30am but not usually past midday.

Venue for games

  • Various – Raroa Intermediate, Elsdon, Newlands, Wellington College, Scots College.

Day/times/venue of practices

  • These are held on the astroturf at Ngaio school and timing varies according to availability of coaches and team members.

Uniform/equipment

  • Ngaio Sports Uniform can be purchased at NZ Uniforms Thorndon or online at ngaioschool.nzuniforms.com, long socks (preferably white), hockey stick (we can lend one if needed), shin pads, mouthguard.

Selections

  • At the discretion of the coordinators. Preferences and friendships will be taken into account.

Ngaio School teams are mixed and play 6-a-side hockey (teams have around 8-10 players for substitutions). Games are 20 minutes on a 1/4 size hockey turf. Standard hockey ball. No penalty corners, no goalies.
