I enjoy working with all levels of children. I also love working with parents and the other teachers in my job as Deputy Principal and sometimes as Acting Principal.
I have worked in various wonderful schools in Wainuiomata and Lower Hutt. Ngaio has been my favourite though, and the school that I have been at for the longest time.
I live in Upper Hutt and have two grown up children and a lovely grand-daughter named Kaitlyn. Mr Hancox and I love being grandparents.

Kia Ora. I really enjoy teaching at Ngaio School because the students are so full of energy and enthusiasm. I feel really lucky to have had the opportunity to teach at lots of different levels while I've been here. I particularly love teaching drama, music and "Jump Jam" because we can really throw ourselves into it with wild abandon. I have been learning Spanish (slowly) and enjoyed travelling to Spain to try my Spanish out on the locals!

Hayden

Hayden Trass

Hi, I'm Hayden Trass, and this is my first year teaching at Ngaio. I have been wanting to teach here since spending two weeks at Ngaio when I was at teacher's college in 2004. I had four wonderful years teaching in Upper Hutt but I am finding the commute to Ngaio much easier -- and I was right about Ngaio -- it is a fantastic school! The students and staff are enthusiastic and thoughtful. I love living in Wellington, and my favourite thing is to spend time with friends and family, including Lucy (a very large, self-absorbed ginger cat).

Christina

Christina Barley

Hi, I'm Christina Barley. This is my first year teaching and I am LOVING Ngaio School! I am originally from New Plymouth, Taranaki, but moved to Wellington to attend Victoria University five years ago. I am a huge rugby supporter, and you can usually find me on the sidelines on a Saturday or glued to a television supporting the 'Canes. The coolest thing that has ever happened to me was getting to meet the All Blacks - including Ritchie McCaw!

Hi, I'm Kristin, and this is my first year as part of the Ngaio team of terrific teachers and enthusiastic learners! I've been teaching for ten years in Palmerston North and Wellington and still love the constant learning that occurs every day. If teaching hasn't tired me out, my favourite things to do are walks up Mt KauKau with my Vizsla, travelling around our beautiful country, experimenting with art and painting (or buying paintings!), baking desserts and sampling the Central Otago pinots!

Kia ora koutou. My name is Bernice and I work in the library on Monday, Wednesday and Friday each week. I have enjoyed reading books for as long as I can remember. My favourites as a child were Enid Blyton's Famous Five and Secret Seven, the Anne of Green Gables series and Milly Molly Mandy stories. Reading is crucial to everybody's life education, and what's more it is a relaxing and enjoyable activity. With so many wonderful children's books available these days, and with several thousand titles in our school's collection, pupils at Ngaio are spoilt for choice! I am very happy to be working in the library to support the children's information literacy learning.
